The original house is a very handsome double fronted Victorian building but suffered from the ubiquitous disconnect between the kitchen and living spaces. The clients wanted a subtle reconfiguration to make what they already had worked better.
Spatially, we decided to extend only modestly, clustering kitchen and utility spaces in a small box extension, and creating a new chamfered link to the living space on the other side of the plan. The chamfers provide visual connections, meaning that, for the first time, people in both side of the house have line of sight.
