This narrow and long site did not lend itself to development. Originally a ramshackle garage hemmed in on three sides by surrounding buildings, there was virtually no opportunity for outward facing windows. So, we created a new opportunity, designing a building which dips in the middle to create two new external walls and a roof through which light and air could be brought to the interior.
The project comprises two houses within this curved massing, a two bed and a three bed town house. Both houses are organised over three floors with one principle room per floor. Despite their proximity, the two houses feel quite distinct from each-other, both entered through different streets, and both enjoying secluded private amenity spaces.
